‘Life is a beach’ as the old saying goes, the very sight and sound of the ocean ‘speed dials’ us into relaxation mode. Leisurely walks with toes in the sand and the sea lapping at our feet, snorkeling over colourful coral reefs and exotic cocktails enjoyed while the setting sun in all her Technicolour glory lulls us into a soporific state. This and more can all be yours at Penthouse 401, Villas On The Beach in historic Holetown.

Villas On The Beach consists of eighteen apartments designed by Ian Morrison, one of the leading architects in the region, and this prime penthouse was just completely upgraded and re-decorated and is being offered for sale by Alleyne Real Estate. This turnkey beachfront apartment is accessed by elevator allowing for exclusive privacy and, taking full advantage of the stunning views over the mesmerising blues of the Caribbean Sea. The brief was simple; to create a design that would accentuate the idyllic setting, they loved the blues in the sea and wanted to see them reflected in the unit. The second request was that the décor would be appealing to both a young or more mature clientele.

The décor by Coral Island Interiors was chosen to reflect the very essence of this commanding location by bringing in the colour palette from the surroundings, in this case the ocean. In addition to this is a design based on sea life, shells, coral and nautical elements. Cool beach-y hues can be found throughout this luxury apartment connecting to the sea, sky and beach outside.

Outdoor living is one of the great advantages of the Caribbean lifestyle and a twenty-four foot wide terrace transitions smoothly through pocketed doors from the living room within. Iron framed furniture and glass topped tables were used on the terrace so that the views were not limited by more solid profile pieces. Here, sand coloured cushions are accented with throw cushions bearing a blue or taupe coral motif while a sea grass rug brings in a textured organic element. While the terrace has been equipped with remote controlled electronic sunshades, the textiles were chosen with the islands elements in mind and are all highly durable. A dining table, buffet as well as a wine cooler and bar fridge are also located on the terrace for guests to enjoy meals al fresco.

The living areas are an open plan design so that even when indoors, the striking vistas this apartment commands are always in view, as the sight line travels from the kitchen through the living room and onto the covered terrace. Soaring white pickled ceilings accentuate the space and also keep rooms bright and airy.

Four beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms are elegant without being too formal and offer spacious accommodation for up to eight guests. The apartment boasts two master bedroom suites and, while these both have views out to the sea, the upstairs master has a private balcony, perfect for tanning prive or raising a toast as the sun dips beneath a fiery horizon. In this master bedroom coral and shell motifs can be found in the soft furnishings and even the large marble tiled walk-in shower offers un-interrupted ocean views. Deep spa tubs are the perfect antidote after a day of sun and sea while walk in closets keep clutter at bay and clothes within easy reach.

The downstairs guest bedroom has a subtle nautical scheme, and a Romeo and Juliet balcony also enhances the connection to the outdoors. A concealed pull down stepladder allows access to a storage area making clever use of what was previously an open mezzanine space. The fourth bedroom has been designed as a junior suite with twin beds dressed in fresh, modern hues of fuchsia and acid green.

The living areas are an open plan design so that even when inside the striking vistas this apartment commands are always in view. A sleek and modern kitchen has all high-end appliances including a state of the art refrigerator and a food warmer while granite worktops are as beautiful as they are functional; a sit at counter with bar stools can be used for breakfast or more casual meals. The property has been completely furnished to include crockery, cutlery and linens, the new owner can simply walk in with only their personal items.

In the living room the two-toned sea turtle triptych is a striking feature hanging aptly above a faux finished tortoiseshell console table and mirrors the real life turtles swimming in the bay below. A modern chandelier wrapped in natural rope is a smart but casual choice that works with the theme and adds further interest, and sea-life accessories were sourced for additional impact and colour.

A great source of pride for the Coral Island Interiors team is that the majority of the furniture was locally made to their high specifications by skilled joiners. Most of the accessories were also sourced on island from a selection of interiors showrooms. This shows the quality of craftsmanship and sources available on island.

The designers chose textiles that would stand up to the environment, outdoor fabrics were used wherever possible to with-stand mildew and fading from the afternoon sun while blackout lining was used in all of the bedrooms to prevent drapes deteriorating and block out the sun to keep the air conditioned rooms cooler in the evenings and at night.

On the ground floor of the complex is a fully equipped indoor Gym while outside two pools and the beach are your playground. Steps away are all the amenities you would expect while on holiday at a premium destination. Luxury shopping, restaurants, and cafes are all at your fingertips as well as world-class golf and Spas. So is life really a beach one might ask? At Villas On The Beach the answer is a resounding ‘yes!’
